How are you more attractive than other companies?

Avoid using the classic phrases when trying to attract candidates. Almost all organisations can offer a good lunch or the possibility to work from home.

The candidate must be attracted to your company and the exact position. “Good development opportunities” need to be elaborated.

Where will the company be in 5 years?

Many companies ask the candidate during the interview; “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” – but it is at least as relevant for the candidate to know where the company will be in 5 years.

  • Which journey will you be embarking
  • Do you have any specific partnerships or markets in the scope etc.

This is also where you can differ from your competitors.

Concrete examples of ways to develop at the company

Having concrete examples of ways that other employees have developed at the company is excellent.

  • Will it be possible for the candidate to switch department / focus area at some point?
  • Will he/she be able to become a Manager?
  • How long does it typically take to be promoted to a Senior role?

Also, if you’re an international organization, you may want to consider offering the candidate an international career path.

A lot of people are seeking international endeavours, and are accepting new roles at other organizations to go abroad.

This can and should be prevented. It must be more attractive for the company to keep good employees inside the organization than. Even if you lose them in your specific department. Be open about this at a very early stage.
